see you everywhere
butterflies and dragonflies
the dance of ballet

twenty to fifty
dragonflies fly at one time
on the same level

queen victoria
breezing around each other
mating waltz of love

choreography
should be holding sleeping masks
and the eyes have it

you all look alike
do you have the same feelings
marry brother’s wife

minuet minute
the manhattan of beaches
among the sea oats

“i bet if you give
that shark a big hug and kiss
it will stop Caleb”

if you are not at the beach
why is there a shark

most likely to not succeed
as a cigar girl

they would fire you
after first nanosecond

two planes are flying
advertising the same time
one plane flies higher

the noisiest plane
selling geico and lobsters
neither one kosher

low flying seagulls
would you like to carry signs

hotel reflections

hula of palm trees

you can see clearly
even though it’s far away
a mirror image

duck feather floats by
he went swimming without you
but he will be back

beauty school dropout

The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights released a statement Tuesday night urging Saudi Arabia to halt the execution of ‪Ali Mohammed al-Nimr‬ because he was “convicted for a crime reportedly committed as a child.” It is rare that a specific person’s specific case be the subject of such a statement.

The statement reads, “Any judgment imposing the death penalty upon persons who were children at the time of the offence, and their execution, are incompatible with Saudi Arabia’s international obligations.” It reminds Saudi Arabia that it is a party to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Because Ali’s trial was conducted unfairly, the UN OHCHR argues, “International law, accepted as binding by Saudi Arabia, provides that capital punishment may only be imposed following trials that comply with the most stringent requirements of fair trial and due process, or could otherwise be considered…

I only heard about the looming crucifixion (and planned beheading afterwards) of 21 year old Ali Mohammed al-Nimrof Saudi Arabia on Bill Maher’s show last night. This is horrible, by any stretch of the imagination although it becomes even worse when you learn the details of his 5 year detention for, apparently, nothing more than being a potential critic of the Saudi government…at worst.

every religion)

sun streaming through the window

pool hop shark haiku

jazz white bikini
after only ten minutes
rain drops touching face

lasting minuet
balcony reconnaissance
only man and beer

no one is smoking
in the pool just right outside
so close if it rains

you begin choking
just inhaling inhaler
our government banned

are you alright dear
it’s the charcoal smoke blowing
missing golf cart twice

standing inside pool
smoking three long cigarettes
a man at the beach

trying the best pool
no one is allowed to smoke
walk inside there’s smoke

no one is smoking
the pool or the jacuzzi
or standing around

most of the people
looking for shark in the bay
standing on the bridge

no less than a week
“there are no sharks in the bay”
he told his two sons

“the shark has escaped”
while i am writing they shout
and now back to two

found the dumb smokers
blowing smoke inside the pool
sitting at the door

don’t know where to go
what will become of me now
third attack this hour

two police cars sit
they wanted to see the shark
walk over the bridge

two weeks end tonight
our favorite family
“who will never smoke”

the man doesn’t know
there could be sharks in the bay
some call it a creek

two large puffy clouds above
two birds travel south

plane underneath moon
one gray helicopter flies
opposite of plane

slashes disappear
before the 5:40 poem
erasing themselves

from every planes view
horizontal horizon
appears over sea

golf carts drive by fence
ringo’s dad then mr. lee
from the swimming pool

(this was going to
be the best haiku ever
written by my pen

all fives and sevens
traveling through oxygen
breezes in your mind

now four days later
too upset to remember
beautiful phrases)
